Castor Oil Packs are Good for Liver Detoxification and Lymphatic Circulation

Castor Oil Packs

This is one of the best home treatments you can do on a regular basis to improve your health.  The target of the treatment is to thin the lymphatic fluid and promote its circulation throughout the body with special attention to the liver, spleen, and intestines.

Lymphatic fluid is essentially the “sewer system” of the body.  Dead cells, functional immune complexes, and debris from all over the body are absorbed into the lymphatic fluid and brought to the liver and spleen for filtering.  When lymphatic fluid becomes slow and stagnant it effects digestion and gut immunity leading to inefficient bowel movements, susceptibility to viruses, and worsening food sensitivities.

Castor Oil when applied topically to the abdomen is absorbed through the skin directly into the lymphatic fluid.  Its has a special property that causes it to thin the lymphatic fluid thereby improving circulation to the vital organs and correcting the aforementioned processes.

  • Materials Needed: Castor Oil (preferably organic)
  • Cotton flannel “pack” (36” x 10”)
  • Old towel or t-shirt
  • Hot water bottle or heating pad

Procedure

  1. Pour approximately 1-2 tablespoons of Castor Oil to your cotton flannel and apply onto the upper right quadrant of your abdomen, just under the ribcage (location of liver).
  2. Place your old towel or t-shirt over the flannel to keep any excess oil from touching your sheets.  Note:  Castor Oil will stain sheets so be careful!
  3. Place heat source on top of the towel.  Temperature should be high enough for you to  feel the warmth on your skin but not get burned.
  4. Relax for 30-45 minutes while your skin absorbs the oil.

This is a nice ritual to do before going to sleep while reading or relaxing in bed.  You can keep a container next to the bed so that when you are ready to go to sleep it is easy to drop all materials into the container without getting out of bed.

To achieve maximum benefits of this therapy we recommend doing it at least four consecutive nights a week.

  3. Very interesting. My doc told me recently that my liver is in really bad shape. “Are you a drinker?” he asked. Well, what a stupid question that was! I have been on a 20-year-long regimen of psychotropic medications after a serious brain injury and surgery to my brain, and I am not allowed any alcohol, ever. Booze + my pills can do very, very strange things to the mind, I know from experimenting. You’d never believe what can happen: delusions, total memory lapse, optical illusions. Not “good” illusions like on LSD, “bad” illusions, like seeing your car flying above the street! These meds are really powerful stuff. I am thinking to myself that they are likely the cause of my sick liver, after 20 freaking years! Do you have an opinion on this,
So I was talking to my sister, who, God-love-her! used to have a natural foods store and is really knowledgeable on natural remedies. She said : Google “Castor oil pack for sick liver.”
I did that, and guess what? YOUR blog came out right at the top of the list! You must be doing something right. Thank-you for the How-to instructions, I’m going to get me a hot water bottle.
One more question: where does a person get a sheet of cotton flannel?
    Tx again!
I’ll let you know how my liver does with this treatment.

[…] I thought I would share with you about the castor oil packs I’ve been using for liver support.  It is my favorite part of my healing routine…hahaha!  When I go to bed, I heat a rice pack and a flannel and then put some castor oil on the flannel and place it over my liver when I get into bed.  The warm rice pack is sooo nice during the cold weather (although we had a thaw here and it almost feels and looks like spring today!).  A quick google search led me to this link if you want to learn more: https://rootnaturalhealth.wordpress.com/2011/01/01/castor-oil-packs-are-good-for-liver-detoxification… […]

This works! It works best if you do it for 3 or 4 consecutive nights and repeat. Example, packs Tues thru Friday, change your sheets Saturday, then repeat at least once.

Excellent info, I have done this regular and it works. I’ve been a moderate to heavy drinker for about 10years and milk thistle rosemary leaf and dandelion root and castor oil pack is a good regimen. I quit drinking, which is key, and only organic homemade food, no fast food. Your liver will come back from the dead lol.

Thanks for your write-up. My partner and i have continually observed
that the majority of people are desperate to lose weight simply because wish to appear slim along with attractive.
However, they do not continually realize that there are additional benefits just for
losing weight in addition. Doctors state that over
weight people have problems with a variety of
ailments that can be perfectely attributed to their own excess weight.
The great news is that people who are overweight plus suffering from diverse diseases can help
to eliminate the severity of their particular illnesses through losing weight.

It is possible to see a continuous but noted improvement in health
if even a bit of a amount of weight-loss is realized.
